As things often go in life, I worry about things that never come to fruition. Edna is currently on vacation for 4 weeks. She's John's main person at EasterSeals and we were both concerned about how things would go in her absense. We were mainly worried that taking care of him would be so difficult for the other people to do that the director would decide that John couldn't participate in their program anymore. The plan Edna and I hatched up was that I would increase his medication each day to help keep him calm, and that we would pick him earlier than usual to avoid the main sundowning period. We are now 3 weeks through Edna's 4 week vacation, and it has gone very well. The first 2 weeks Danielle picked him up early, and for the 2nd 2 weeks Ben is picking up him up early. Ben works a lot of afternoons though, so friends and family are helping, and I'm leaving work early some days. Last week I spoke to the director and asked how things were going. She said 'Good! Don't change whatever you're doing!' Well we can't keep picking up John early every day, but maybe we can do that a bit more often. And the medication increase is really helping. He hasn't been nearly as agitated these past weeks. If he's happier, I am too.
In other news, this morning we were in the bathroom and John went over to the toilet to pee. Suddenly he rushed back to the sink and promptly peed in it. So that happened.
