Kind of a funny story ... Yesterday I arrived to see John after he had eaten most of his dinner. He was close to the dining room sitting on a bench in one of the hallways. I went to him, put on one of his shoes, then tried to walk him back to the table to finish his dinner and eat his beloved dessert. He could barely walk and limped gingerly on 1 foot. He acted like he was in serious pain. I couldn't get him to move. After 2 of us tried to coerce him to walk to the table, I gave up and had him sit down and took off the shoe. I soon found a sock (it was a small sock) crumpled up in the toe of that shoe! Instantly he was healed of his malady and we walked back to the table without issue. The Med Tech came over to check on him and I told her about the sock. She said they'd already called Hospice because they were worried he twisted his ankle - clearly they didn't stick their hand inside the shoe - so she went to cancel that call before someone was on their way to check on John. Once at the table John finished the rest of his dinner and ate 2 desserts. Later I put his shoe back on and everything was fine. Certainly it was pretty uncomfortable trying to walk with that sock in his shoe, but you'd have thought a bone was broken with all his fuss! Fortunately it was an easy fix.
